The Symposium was renamed the CTRC-AACR San Antonio Breast Cancer Symposium. Complementing the clinical strengths of the highly regarded annual San Antonio Breast Cancer Symposium®\, the AACR’s scientific prestige in basic\, translational and clinical cancer research will create a unique and comprehensive scientific meeting that will advance breast cancer research for the benefit of patients. \nIn 2005\, Baylor College of Medicine became a joint sponsor of the symposium and will remain in the CTRC-AACR collaboration.

SUMMARY:2020 Breast Cancer Coordinated Care (BC3) Conference
DESCRIPTION:See you in DC!\nBreast cancer is the most common cancer affecting women. Diagnosis and treatments are part of the practice of a wide number of medical specialists and there are national initiatives calling for a multidisciplinary approach to the care of breast cancer patients. The multiple components and aspects of the treatment of breast cancer require a high level of coordinated care among different specialties. This coordination becomes even more challenging because of the rapid evolution of new treatment modalities and is especially important due to of the possibility of improved outcomes both in terms of curing the disease\, as well as maintaining the physical and psychological well-being of the patient. \nThe meeting will offer presentations and panel discussions on a number of currently important topics in the local treatment of breast cancer including oncoplastic surgery and the role of prophylactic mastectomy. Experts in the field will cover the state of partial breast irradiation\, intraoperative radiation therapy\, timing and indications for post-mastectomy radiation\, and neoadjuvant chemotherapy and its role in restaging breast cancer. Additionally\, the program will examine nipple-sparing mastectomy\, both therapeutic and prophylactic\, treatment of breast cancer in a previously augmented breast\, the status of MRI screening for breast cancer\, the effects of reconstruction on the delivery of post-mastectomy radiation\, and the evolving role of alloplastic materials in breast reconstruction. It will also cover in depth the state-of-the-art emerging field of lymphatic surgery to treat lymphedema. The latest updates on national trends and data on financial toxicity related to cancer care will also be discussed. \nThis three-day symposium will evaluate and discuss different models for coordination of breast cancer care from major centers across the United States. The meeting’s intent is not only to educate the faculty and attendees about the wide range of options available for breast cancer coordinated care but also to encourage the development of more standardized treatment strategies and protocols for the local treatment of breast cancer. SUMMARY:7th Annual USC Multi-Disciplinary Breast Cancer Symposium
DESCRIPTION:See you in LA!\nThe program reviews current state-of-the-art breast cancer management\, highlighting the key components of multi-disciplinary treatment to include surgery\, medical oncology and radiation oncology. The format of this program consists of lectures and case studies. \nThe emergence of the new breast cancer mammographic detection modality of tomosynthesis will be assessed. Recent advances in surgery are discussed by faculty considered to be world leaders in surgical oncology. Topics such as targeted axillary dissection and de-escalation of axillary operations in the primary setting and after neoadjuvant chemotherapy will be highlighted. In addition\, immunotherapy is becoming a more central theme as recognition of its role in suppressing tumor growth become more elucidated. This evolving topic will be featured this year and will dovetail into a discussion of HER 2+ cancers\, which also have a relationship to the immune system.
